Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park

The Last Chance portion of the California Coastal Trail off the Redwood Highway near Enderts Beach is a moderate 12 mile round trip. With deep forests, beautiful meadows, and ocean vistas, this is a trip not to miss. The trailhead is located 5 miles south of the main entrance to the Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park. This portion of the state can get more than 100 inches of rainfall a year, so check at the ranger station before starting out for trail conditions and closures.

Jackson Demonstration State Forest

Try the Caspar/Little Lake Road between Caspar and Highway 20. It's a rugged 16 mile round trip through a variety of forests, canyons, and streams. There are also many other smaller roads through the area, so you might want to stop and get a map before you hit the trails.

Smith River National Recreation Area

The Old Gasquet Loop Road covers 23 strenuous miles of dirt road through Panther, Grassy Flats, and Cedar Creek up to the 2000 foot level of Cold Spring Mountain. This is a long and rough ride over little used forest service roads. To get to the trailhead, go west past Gasquet about a half mile from the ranger station, south on Middle Fork Road for about a half mile, turn right at the fork to Old Gasquet Toll Road, then west a quarter mile to the end of the road and the beginning of the trail. Check in at the ranger station for maps and road conditions before starting out.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
WHO ARE WE?
Napa Valley

St. Helena

East of St. Helena, try the climb up Mount St. Helena. The summit is over 4300 feet, so be prepared for a lot of climbing in only a 9 mile ride on a fire road. The summit fire Road is off Highway 29 and is clearly marked.

Calistoga

Oat Hill Mine Road is an old mining road which has been converted to a bike trail. This road climbs from 400 feet to 2200 in 5 miles. Oat Hill Mine Road is to the left of the Trailhead Store about 1 mile north of Calistoga on Highway 29. Take plenty of water.

Napa

Skyline Park in Napa has no easy trails and is an inviting challenge for advanced riders. Because Skyline is the location of several bicycle races, you'll want to call ahead to make certain the park is open to the public when you want to go. When you get there check in at the visitor's center for a map and trail conditions (the trails can be pretty rough after a competition). Skyline is located at the end of Imola road off Highway 221.
